In New Jersey, all aspects of the sex trade —whether selling sex, buying sex, promoting it, or profiting from it—are completely illegal. New Jersey has distinct laws for purchasing sexual services (engaging in prostitution as a patron) and prostitution (selling sexual services). New Jersey’s vacatur law gives survivors the ability to clear their criminal record of non-prosecuted cases, arrests, adjudications, convictions, any information related to an arrest, and incident reports. New Jersey has codified a “Prostitution Offender Program” and other penalties into law for those who have been convicted of sex buying.
